Popular actor to compete at Fajr filmfest with 4 movies

Iranian actor Babak Hamidiyan is set to participate at the Fajr Film Festival with four movies.

Hamidiyan is one of the thespians that have the most participating films at the upcoming event.

Born in 1980, Hamidiyan studied Theatre (Scenic Design Emphasis) at the Islamic Azad University.

He has appeared in movies including  ‘Qadamgah’ (2003), ‘Big Drum Under the Left Foot’ (2004), ‘A Little Kiss’ (2005), ‘God is Near’ (2006), ‘Down-and-Out’ (2007) and ‘Resurrection Day’ (‘Hussein Who Said No’) (2010).

Hamidiyan was nominated for an Iran Cinema Celebration Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in the film ‘Big Drum Under the Left Foot’ (2004).

He won an Iran Cinema Celebration Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in ‘The Wrangler’ (2007).

The Iranian actor’s performances in ‘The Resurrection Day’ (‘Hussein Who Said No’) (2010) and ‘Ch (Chamran)’ (2013) earned him two Crystal Simorghs for Best Actor in a Supporting Role from previous Fajr International Film Festivals.

Established in 1982, the Fajr International Film Festival celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, the Fajr International Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The 36th edition of the Fajr Film Festival is slated for February 1-11, 2018, in Tehran.
